There is no waiting list and no referral needed. Book a first examination and you are registered from that appointment.
The first appointment
Forty minutes, $95. Longer than a routine check because most of it is spent finding out what has happened to your teeth so far.
Medical history
Ten minutes at reception, on paper or a tablet. Medication, allergies, and any conditions that affect treatment.
Examination
Teeth, gums, bite, and a soft tissue check of the tongue, cheeks and throat. We do this at every examination, not only the first.
X-rays
Usually two, sometimes more, only where they will change what we do. If you have had films elsewhere in the last year we would rather use those.
Discussion
What we found, what needs doing now, what can wait, and what is optional. This is the part most people say they have not had elsewhere.
Written plan
Emailed within two working days, itemised with prices. Yours to keep and to take elsewhere for a second opinion if you want one.
What to bring
- A list of medication, including anything you buy over the counter
- Details of heart conditions, diabetes, epilepsy or blood thinners
- Any dentures, guards or retainers you currently wear
- Name of your previous dentist, if you would like your records requested
Practical things
No. Book directly. We also accept referrals from other practices for implants and sedation, in which case your own dentist stays responsible for your general care.
Yes. Give reception your previous practice name and sign a request form, and we will ask them for your notes and recent X-rays. It usually takes two to three weeks and saves you being re-radiographed.
Six months for most adults. Three or four months if you have active gum disease or a high decay rate, twelve months if your mouth is stable and low risk. It is a clinical decision, not a policy, and we will explain which applies to you.
From age three. Examinations for children of registered adult patients are free. The first two visits are usually a ride in the chair and a count of the teeth, nothing more, because the point at that age is that they are not frightened later.
Four spaces at the rear off the service lane, and unrestricted street parking on the block after 18:00. The lane entrance is narrow, so a large car is easier left on the street.
Clinical records are kept for eleven years after your last visit, or until a child patient turns twenty-five, whichever is longer. We do not share them with anyone without your written consent except where the law requires it. Ask reception for a copy of the full privacy notice.
