Pulsegrid / Company
Company
Pulsegrid, 24 Example Street. Nineteen people. Started in 2021 after the founders spent a quarter arguing about an observability invoice.
Pulsegrid started because the two founders, then running platform engineering at a logistics company, spent most of one quarter negotiating an observability contract instead of doing engineering. The bill was unpredictable because it was tied to how much data the applications happened to emit, which is a number nobody controls directly and everybody is punished for.
Pricing per host rather than per gigabyte fixes that. It also means our incentive is to store your data efficiently rather than encourage you to send more of it, which is why adaptive sampling is on the free tier.
Nineteen people, mostly remote. Funded by a seed round in 2022 and revenue since. We are not aiming to be acquired and we have turned down two offers, which we mention only because customers reasonably ask what happens to their data if we are bought.

How hiring works here
Four stages, three weeks end to end, and we pay for the technical exercise at your normal day rate.
- Screening call, 30 minutes, with the hiring manager not a recruiter
- Technical conversation about something you have actually built
- A paid exercise, four hours, on a real problem from our backlog
- A conversation with two people you would work with daily
No whiteboard algorithms, no take-home that takes a weekend, and we tell you the salary band in the first email.
